Dining amidst nature

Restaurants have sprouted up in parks, a refreshing location from the usual concrete surroundings.

Punggol Park has one which serves Western dishes in a natural environment. Sitting outside in the terrace gives you access to a panoramic view of the park and a huge pond stares you right in the face. The prices are reasonable but it can be noisy since the HDB dwellers nearby flock to it.

Bishan Park has one too but because of the enormity of the park, one can get lost looking for it, since Bishan Park spans two sections. It is different from the one at Punggol Park and is situated beside a spa. It serves both local and Western dishes but the prices are a little steep. The ambience is quiet and conducive for some catching up or an intimate tete-a-tete. The jazz music is a turn-on too.

Some dishes I recommend are Pan-fried Dory with Mango Sauce, Tomyam Soup, which has 'tang hoon' and adequate seafood in the soup and Brownie with Ice-cream, which is served at the correct temperature and texture, since brownies are supposed to be warm and soft.
